Casual Friday feat. Margiela

1. Maison Martin Margiela Wool-blend felt coat, 2. Rag & Bone Dakota Tee, 3. Bailey Leather-like Bralet, 4. Vero Moda Slim Fit Jeans, 5. Proenza Shouler Diamond-Embossed PS11 Mini Classic, 5. Giuseppe Zanotti Cutout Sandals (Sale)

Am I the only one that has fallen head over heels for Maison Martin Margiela? The bags were my first love (naturally) however this grey boyfriend coat is looking like a good buy for this winter, the MM6 range is worth taking a minute or two to drool over as well...

Houndstooth

Keeping it short and sweet this time as I temporarily ignore the joys of undergraduate life and the stress of the end of semester (yay for exams, said no one ever). As a distraction to the 12 weeks worth of cramming I need to do, lets talk printed shirts…

Ive mentioned this fixation of mine previously and finding this classic houndstooth print from Shieke was a sign (I believe) that I need to be on the lookout for more. My love for black/white/grey outfits is no secret, and definitely obvious from previous blog posts, however the monotony of monochrome is a problem...this is where prints come in. For a more daring look, try clashing the print of the top to the bottoms, this could be a shirt/pants combo or the ever-popular crop top/midi skirt silhouette, if you keep both pieces in the same colour family with clashing prints, I guarantee you'll be surprised at how beautifully it will work. The white leather jacket is an easy alternative to the typical black and the trusty coated jeans are out again once more.

The Crop Continued...

My love for high quality, basic wardrobe staples is no secret; versatility and reliability are perhaps my two favourite words when it comes to investment pieces, however, when it comes to trendier purchases, these terms aren’t always applicable. This Zara cropped jumper has proven to be an exception to the rule...

Layered with a T-shirt for uni and now with a printed blouse for a dressier outing, the cropped-jumper trend gets two thumbs up from yours truly, and a whole lot of late nights spent scouring the internet for more (I think I need one in a pastel blue shade...restrain is a highly overrated commodity it seems).

Printed shirts are definitely starting to take over my wardrobe in favour of cotton basics, there's something a little bit more 'grown up' and polished about them, at the ripe old age of 21, I figure it's not a bad time to start building my collection.

The Casual Crop

Cropped tops are, by far, one of my favourite trends, however, I have come to associate the crop with fairly dressy occasions (dinner dates and the like), paired with a midi skirt or tailored trousers. Incorporating a crop into uni attire can prove to be a challenge considering the general consensus of dressing down rather than up. In my short stint of four years, it appears that looking overdressed is as much, if not more, of a faux-pas as looking like you've just willed yourself out of bed and forgone the preparation altogether. This proves to be a bit of a daily challenge for those, like myself, who are more predisposed towards heeled boots, chiffon shirts and the like.

In an effort to tweak my usual 'dressy' style, I paired the crop top with an oversized grey marle t-shirt and white denim. The grey marle draws attention away from the slight sheen of this Zara crop, making it less fancy-schmancy and more uni-appropriate. If you haven't tried a long-sleeved cropped jumper yet, now is definitely the time with winter fast approaching. Fluffy cropped jumpers are on my radar at the moment, more on this soon...

Of course, since all my preppy tendencies were being suppressed thus far, I couldn't hold back with the jewellery, rose gold accents were the choices of the day; my laptop case matched conveniently here and I couldn't resist.

Of course I shot a dressier look with this crop (versatile is an understatement) so keep your eyes peeled for that in the near future, that's all for now folks.

Baby Boy...

So I may have developed a little fixation on this hue (clinical obsession is an understatement here); as you can probably tell, I am diving head first into this season's pastel craze...
